Lyonga M. Mbesa Takes the Stage as a Keynote Speaker at the African Blockchain Festival 2025 in Kigali, Rwanda

May 2025 marked a significant milestone in my journey as an entrepreneur, youth advocate, and technology enthusiast as I had the honor of serving as a keynote speaker at the African Blockchain Festival in Kigali, Rwanda. The event brought together some of Africa’s brightest minds, innovators, investors, policymakers, and technology leaders to explore the transformative power of blockchain technology and its role in shaping the continent’s future.

Standing before a diverse audience of changemakers from across Africa and beyond, I shared insights on how emerging technologies, particularly blockchain, can drive economic growth, transparency, financial inclusion, and sustainable development throughout the continent. My keynote focused on the importance of empowering young people with digital skills and creating opportunities that allow them to become active contributors to Africa’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

The African Blockchain Festival provided a unique platform for meaningful discussions around decentralized technologies, fintech innovation, digital identity, entrepreneurship, and the future of Africa’s technology ecosystem. It was inspiring to engage with industry experts and visionaries who are working to unlock new possibilities through blockchain-driven solutions.

As someone deeply committed to youth empowerment and community development, I emphasized the need for greater collaboration between governments, private sector organizations, educational institutions, and innovators. Africa possesses immense talent and creativity, and with the right investments in technology and digital education, the continent can position itself as a global leader in innovation.

Beyond the keynote session, the festival created valuable opportunities to connect with startups, investors, developers, and fellow thought leaders who are building solutions designed to address some of Africa’s most pressing challenges. These conversations reinforced my belief that technology is not just about innovation—it is about creating impact, improving lives, and building inclusive opportunities for future generations.

Representing Cameroon and sharing our story on a continental stage was both humbling and motivating. It highlighted the growing influence of African innovators who are driving change and proving that world-class solutions can emerge from every corner of the continent.

I am grateful to the organizers of the African Blockchain Festival for the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation and to everyone who participated in making the event a success. Experiences like these strengthen my commitment to advocating for technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and youth leadership across Africa.

As blockchain technology continues to evolve, I remain excited about the opportunities ahead and committed to supporting initiatives that leverage innovation for social and economic transformation.

The future of Africa will be shaped by those willing to innovate, collaborate, and lead. Together, we can build a digitally empowered continent where technology creates opportunities for all.
